Champagne Jacques Selosse is a récoltant-manipulant in Avize, in the Côte des Blancs, and one of the most influential grower estates in Champagne.
- History: The estate was founded in the 1950s by Jacques Selosse, who initially sold most of his grapes to the house of Lanson. In 1964 he made his own wine for the first time. His son Anselme studied oenology in Burgundy, joined the estate in 1974 and took charge around 1980 together with his wife Corinne. Their son Guillaume later succeeded him.
- Vineyards and terroir: The vineyards are mostly Grand Cru Chardonnay in Avize, Cramant and Oger, complemented by Pinot Noir in places including Aÿ and Ambonnay.
- Approach and style: Anselme Selosse broke with common practice: he cut yields sharply and stopped using chemical fertilisers, herbicides and pesticides. His Burgundy-inspired, terroir-driven approach made the estate a model for many growers.
- Cuvées: Well-known wines include Initial and the Lieux-Dits series, with single-site cuvées such as Le Bout du Clos in Ambonnay.
