Champagne Charles Pougeoise is a family business from the Côte des Blancs in Vertus, known for its authenticity and six generations of craftsmanship.
History Charles Pougeoise started independently in 1954 with 53 ares of land and left the cooperative in 1976 to create his own brand. In 1991 his daughter Sandrine Herregods took over the management, together with her husband Stéphane, who continue the family tradition. The house supplies prestigious institutions such as the Sorbonne and French embassies.
Vineyards The vineyards cover 10 hectares and lie exclusively in Vertus, a village classified Premier Cru. The terroir in the heart of the Côte des Blancs guarantees the typicity and consistency of the wines.
Approach As a Récoltant-Manipulant the house controls every production step. They use traditional methods and special enamelled tanks (cuves) for vinification, which contributes to the unique characteristics of their champagnes.
Champagnes The range consists mainly of Blanc de Blancs (Chardonnay), but also atypical cuvées with Pinot Noir. Well-known cuvées are:
- Cuvée Origine Brut: A classic white champagne.
- Cuvée Sauvage: A more expressive white variant.
- Cuvée Grande Réserve: An aged white champagne.
- Cuvée Millésime: Vintage champagne (e.g. 2012).
- Cuvée Rosé: A rosé champagne made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
